Much as we enjoy a good apartment-hunting horror story, we can respect a renter who wants to make the process a little easier. So we're liking the idea behind BrickUnderground's new Renter Referral Program, which sets renters up with specific brokers. How it works: renters fill out a form with details on what they're looking for, and Brick U's "rent coach," real estate consultant/broker Bruce Feldman, will match renters with brokers. Brokers pay a standard referral fee; renters are charged zero dollars. Feldman will also answer any questions from renters who participate in the program about leases, temporary walls, etc. Might be worth a shot, renters, even if it means fewer stories about broker scams, two-bedrooms that are actually one-bedrooms, and illegal sublets.
