An R.I.P. to the Fat Black Pussycat Theater sign on Minetta Lane. The owner of the building that once housed the theater recently painted over the 40-year-old sign with bright red paint as part of a "summer spruce-up." Was he also hoping to enrage local preservationists? Because that happened too, with many bewailing the sign's demise. The theater's claim to historical fame: Shel Silverstein and Tiny Tim performed there, and it may have been the spot where Bob Dylan wrote "Blowin' in the Wind." [WSJ]
