Park Avenue House That Once Asked $33M Sells for $18M

New, 6 comments

The long saga of 870 Park Avenue finally came to an end in May, when the townhouse went into contract. It had tried a slate of asking prices from the initial $23 million in 2004 to an eye-popping $33 million in 2008 down to $17.75 million and back up, most recently, to $24.5 million. So how much did it finally sell for? $18,328,500. At least it's higher than the house's lowest asking price?but since the house required a fix-up to get that price, perhaps that's not much consolation. We hope the buyer, an LLC, enjoys that Robert A.M. Stern-designed facade.
