Noise Wars

The noise fight between the Empire Hotel and a neighboring co-op at 61 West 62nd Street has dragged on for two years now, but it's finally coming to an end. And the winner is? The residents of 61 West 62nd, who are, a judge ruled, entitled to a preliminary injunction limiting the amount of noise the Empire Hotel's rooftop bar can make. They had originally asked that bar patrons not be allowed to use the bar's outdoor spaces at all, but the injunction calls for no music after 10 p.m.. The two sides are now working on a settlement. Maybe they can just agree on earplugs for all? [Real Deal]
