Leaning Tower of Broadway's Neighbor Finally Ready for Buyers

New, 7 comments

New Tribeca condo building Reade57 is most (in)famous for destabilizing the foundation of its historic neighbor, 287 Broadway, thereby delaying its own construction. Can bygones be bygones? We'll soon see! 287 Broadway has been stabilized, and Reade57 itself is, brace, about to hit the market. The Journal has the full deets and the prices are, for Tribeca, actually kinda reasonable.

One-bedrooms, which are 714 square feet and larger, will start at $814,000, and 2BRs, 1,130 square feet or larger, at $1.435 million. There are a total of 84 units in the SLCE-designed building and, according to the developer, a sizable waiting list, even though there's only a teaser website up so far. Of course, a few questions remain: will the location on the corner of Broadway and Reade streets be too touristy to attract buyers once the World Trade Center memorial opens? And will the poor residents of the leaning tower of Broadway ever be able to return home?
