Accusations of arborcide in Washington Square Park are being leveled against none other than the city Parks Department. Neighborhood blogger Cathryn Swan reports that seven trees have died since landscaping around the fountain two years ago, and it's not exactly nature taking its course if the Parks Department willfully ignored, say, the structural condition of the soil.
