Boardwalk Blues

Today's Times brings a sad reminder for Coney fans: seven Boardwalk businesses will close at the end of the season, after a drawn-out eviction fight. All boardwalk businesses were required to submit nine-year plans to new overlord Central Amusement International, but Nathan's Famous and souvenir boutique Lola Star were the only ones invited to stick around. Of the others, Central Amusement president Valerio Ferrari says, "We don't have the same vision. They like the way it is, and we don't." Which sounds like the Coney controversy in a nutshell. [NYT]
