MANHATTAN?The rental market never takes a summer vacation, so it's time for the latest rental market data dump, this time from the folks at MNS (fka TREGNY). Rents are up 1.21 percent compared to June, and vacancy is down by 2.39 percent. (MNS sends renters on the prowl for deals to Midtown West, to FiDi, and to non-doorman 1BRs on the LES.) This is all in line with seasonal patterns, so nothing to see here. [CurbedWire Inbox]
NYC?Today the mayor's office issued its official call for universities to partner with the city on an applied science research facility, to be placed at the Brooklyn Navy Yard's Navy Hospital Campus, the Goldwater Hospital Campus on Roosevelt Island, Staten Island's Farm Colony, or Governors Island. Responses to the request for proposals are due in the fall, and the winner?who will get up to $100 million from the city for the project?will be chosen by the end of the year. In addition to Stanford, whose proposal has not been very popular out in California, we hear that Cornell will also be submitting a proposal. May the best plan win! [CurbedWire Inbox]
