News from the pipeline that another link to Chelsea's gritty auto past will be hidden from daytripping tourists: Firestone Bear Auto Center, situated right below the 26th Street Viewing Spur on the High Line, has been given a three-month eviction notice. A $40K/year private school called Avenues: The World School is being planned between West 25th and 26th Streets and Bear Auto is currently in court with the planners to duke it out over the corner lot. Not such good news for Bear: Avenues donated money to the High Line to build that very section over 26th Street. [Jeremiah's Vanishing New York]
