Metro Transit Authority chairman Jay Walder suddenly resigned today, days after an announcement bleeding $2 billion from the MTA $24 billion five-year plan. He's apparently jumping ship for Hong Kong, and had only returned to New York from a similar post in London two years ago. Upon his appointment under former Governor David Paterson, Walder was salaried at $300K a year with a severance package upwards of $800,000. Is this what the MTA had in mind by budget cuts?
