Note to developers and city officials: it's not a good idea to mess with playgrounds. Today's example is the St. Nicholas Houses in Harlem, a public housing development where tenants are suing the city and federal governments over a charter school on the property. Trees, benches, a community garden, and a playground have already been cleared from the site, and the lawsuit charges that various city and federal agencies failed to assess the impact of the park's demolition on the community. There's another park a block away, which might hurt that argument. [NYT]
