The Department of Buildings gave the green light yesterday for one massive Midtown block comprising two developments: one, the Joseph Moinian 34-story hotel at 237 West 54th that's already been pissing off the neighbors; the other, a 900,000 sq. ft. commercial tower at 250 West 55th Street that Boston Properties has been trying to revive for two years. Between bomb-like demolition, neighbor protests, and a 712-foot-long sidewalk shed wrapping the block on three sides, you may want to start planning a detour route for, oh, the next four years.
