This is the financier-populated Diaper District we're talking about, so we're not surprised to see that the bulldozed Pearl Street Playground is getting a $2.1 million, vastly fancier replacement. DNAinfo has the deets: the new park, to open in spring 2012, will be about 30 percent bigger than the park it's replacing, and it will have new plants and benches and age-specific play spaces. There will be both a sandy play area and a water one?this time, one that kids can actually use. [DNAinfo]
