The last of several nails in the coffin of the American Folk Art Museum on West 53rd: the Tod Williams Billie Tsien-designed building that permanently closed on July 8 just sealed the deal in its sale to MoMA for $31.2 million. AFAM has 90 days to vacate the premises, making way for MoMA's "real estate juggernaut." (Curiously, AFAM never put the building on the market for other buyers.) Adding indictment to injury, the museum's fraudulent former chairman Ralph Esmerian was sentenced to six years behind bars on the very same day. [CultureGrrl]
