Sold Stuff

W editor-in-chief Stefano Tonchi has sold his three-bedroom apartment, bought with partner David Maupin, for $3.277 million. Recent sales in the building indicate that the couple's unit #6W was on the upper sales tier, with two similar units sold at $1.9 and $2.3 million in the last year. Built in 1900 by department store baron George A. Hearn, the Beaux-Arts-meets-New Orleans Ardea is a richly worked building that has a twin next door at #33-- both 10 stories high, they towered above their Greenwich Village neighbors. In a cute anecdote from a Times Streetscapes column, rents at the time ran from $1,200 to $2,000 per year. [NYO]
