Billionaire financier George Soros is in Manhattan Supreme Court this week defending his deep pockets from a soap star ex-girlfriend who claims he reneged on a promise to buy her a $1.9 million Upper East Side apartment. The $50 million damages suit also claims that the 80-year-old Soros "slapped her around while they were in bed discussing his real-estate betrayal." The dream home in question is an apartment at 30 East 85th Street; days after signing the contract Soros ditched his trophy girlfriend and let another lady move in. Lesson to be learned: are real estate shenanigans better solved in court or between the sheets? [NYP]
