Several facets of Brooklyn Bridge Park are in waiting mode at the moment. There's the hotel and housing RFP awaiting developer submissions, even as the sale of the Watchtower buildings may make some of the proposed development financially unnecessary. And then there's the possible expansion of the park into Vinegar Hill: park higher-ups have been chatting with Con Ed about the site of its giant power plant stretching between Jay Street and the Navy Yard. Con Ed is taking the plant down, and the land could be converted into a Brooklyn Bridge Park extension. Perhaps "what once was conceived as a north-south park will turn out to be more of an east-west park," the Eagle notes. Anyone want to take bets on whether it'll happen?
