Trash Becomes Art in Times Square; Move-Ins Begin at The Yard

TIMES SQUARE?Noticed anything unusual about 25 of the trash cans in Times Square this month? If not?well, that's what the pic is for! The artsy garbage cans are a project by Hidemi Takagi, who "installed 95 photographs of packaged foods from around the world which she purchased in the small shops of New York neighborhoods. The vivid colors of her photographs reinforce of bold graphic designs of common supermarket items from each nation.." According to the Times Square Alliance, the trash can art is the first such work in Times Square. [CurbedWire Inbox]

LONG ISLAND CITY?Heads up, chess fans: move-ins have begun at new LIC condo (and Powerhouse sister building) The Yard. The 83-unit building has a giant rooftop chessboard and prices start around $300,000 (with the least expensive listing on StreetEasy at $485,000). We've been inside. [CurbedWire Inbox]
