When the Landmarks Preservation Commission rushed to the aid of 135 Bowery, a Federal-style house to which the owner planned a four-story addition, one person was unhappy: owner Ricky Wong. He didn't want the building landmarked, he said at the time, because "then all my money is gone." But the preservationist forces are mobilizing in favor of landmarking, with a petition out for the City Council to ratify the LPC's landmark designation. Too bad Wong already gutted the place.
