The Tribute in Light, the two beams of light projected in Lower Manhattan on 9/11 every year, costs hundreds of thousands of dollars annually. The public art project's funding from the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation and other donors?which covers the costs of a crew of 30 and the refrigerator-sized searchlight bulbs that power the lights?only goes through this year. So the Municipal Art Society is seeking fresh funding and a new home for the lights. [NYO]
