Unionized concrete workers walked out at the World Trade Center site yesterday, bringing construction to a halt at the transit hub and slowing things down at 1 World Trade Center. It's unclear whether a strike vote is planned?the concrete workers' contract expired June 30?but if work stops for any significant length of time, it could slow up all construction at the site that needs concrete. (Workers also didn't show up yesterday at other sites around the city, including Atlantic Yards and the Cornell-Weill Medical Center.) According to the Port Authority, any work stoppage would not affect the 9/11 Memorial. [WSJ]
