The Bronx may not have an ambitious monument-in-progress or a waterfront residential tower battle, but the city's Design + Construction Excellence program doles out a pat on the head with a new architect-ed parking garage. Joining a metal-screened cousin on the Lower East Side, the latest DC+E project is a vision in concrete designed by Ennead Architects and adjacent to the New York Botanical Garden.
Leni Schwendinger, the lighting designer for the project, describes the project: "Gorgeous concrete structure with graceful lines faces Metro North. Light Projects design includes interior and exterior lighting. The smooth tendril-like verticals will be edge-illuminated to glow at night."
