Last time we heard from luxury FiDi rental 90 Washington Street?which goes by 90W?a renter was angry about the "gangster rap" that had recently been added to the lobby music repertoire. Another complaint about 90W recently found its way into the Curbed inbox, this time about rising rents:
The building I live in downtown in FiDi is 90 W?90 Washington Street at Rector. It's a Douglas Elliman building that is raising rents absurdly?like $500 per apartment and the apts are already going for around $2,000 and up for a 400-square foot studio. I overheard a manager in the leasing office tell someone complaining about the rent increase on the phone that they're raising prices to pay for the new luxury attache they just hired. The luxury attache is basically a concierge who sits at the front desk and gets residents restaurant reservations and musical tickets. NO ONE ever asked for that addition. This isn't the Marriott Times Square! We phoned the building management office and got a "no comment." The listings we see right now include a studio for $2,400/month and a 1BR for $3,700/month, but we don't see a luxury attache on the amenities list yet. The service might find more takers at New York by Gehry.
