The defeat of the Nassau Coliseum makeover proposal?in a 57 percent to 43 percent vote?has revived the idea of moving the Islanders to Willets Point, for a possible Mets-Islanders-U.S. Open megacomplex. Some Nassau County politicians are pushing for a privately-funded arena in the area instead, and plenty of other spots, from Suffolk County to Kansas City to Canada, have expressed interest in the Islanders. Of course, that's if Atlantic Yards doesn't get them first. At least then they could technically stay on Long Island. [NYDN]
