Chelsea Parking Lot Destined For 12-Story Residential Glory

We've had several readers inquire this week about the recent action at the former parking lot cornering West 26th Street and 8th Avenue to the tune of "This lot is now being actively cleared?the 3 derelict buildings have been knocked down and something is getting ready to go into this HUGE lot." Readers: your wish is our command! Intrepid intern William Weber scoped out the site this morning, and while it's still basically a parking lot, sleuthing around the DOB database yielded some results. 260 West 26th Street will be home to 12-story residential apartment tower as of 2014 and the building is designed by GF55 Partners, the firm behind the successful condo buildings +Art, and 48 Bond, and the recently-revived Dafina.
