Permits indicated a month ago that Karl Fischer would be replacing the c. 1900 townhouse at 316 and 318 East 3rd Street with a 33-unit condo building. The Landmarks Preservation Commission has indicated the same by choosing not to hold a hearing on the home's potential landmark designation. EV Grieve's been keeping count and notes that this is the fourth recent demolition of a pre-Civil War East Village building. The number of new Karl Fischer projects in the 'hood is climbing rapidly, too. [EVG]
