Deputy mayors and other top officials in city government are supposed to live in New York City, but judging from DM Robert Steel's sweet digs in Greenwich, loopholes exist in pretty plain view: while he's registered to vote at his Chelsea apartment address, Steel "keeps his wife, four dogs, four luxury cars, and, until recently, his driver's license in the tony Connecticut suburbs." The ex-finance guy only receives a $1 salary from the city, like Bloomberg, and does pay NYC taxes at what he calls a "significant" personal cost. [NYDN via NYMag]
