West 15th Street Mega-Townhouse Shows Off New 'Do to Dwell

New, 5 comments

Dwell magazine is celebrating a new publisher and a New York foothold next Tuesday evening with a coming-out party at 150 West 15th Street, the mega-townhouse with a colorful past. A little bird tells us that the RSVP list is starchitect-studded, with Richard Meier (this month's cover boy), Charles Renfro of Diller Scofidio + Renfro, and Stephen Holl feting the mag. We'll be in full Hangover Obs mode next week, but until then, we've got floorplans.

After the building's initial offering as four luxury condos back in the heady days of '08, the townhouse re-entered the market as a whole for $22 million, then got pricechopped, then pulled from the market, all before its present price of $18.7 million. Somewhere in there, the mansion got an upgrade in the form of a $2 million interior design by Eric Cohler, which makes the $1,870 per ft² ask a bit more reasonable. Also, we're talking 10,000 square feet spread over seven floors with a basement in spitting distance of Chelsea, MePa, and Flatiron.
