A modular, pre-fab design is still in the running for the first residential, mixed-income tower at Atlantic Yards, though construction has been pushed back to early 2012. To appease already-and-always-inflamed community members, a Forest City Ratner exec "said it wasn’t clear that a modular build would necessarily result in fewer jobs" and that they had scheduled a meeting with a labor rep. On the plus side, construction would be "less disruptive" to the community and the affordable housing build-out would be cheaper. [Brownstoner; previously]
