A Columbia professor's night-time bike tour exploring the historical landmarks of New York City has become so popular that last week's midnight ride included hundreds of cyclists, an ambulance, mechanics, and an SUV, not to mention a bullhorn history lesson at 3 am. The Journal rides along with Kenneth Jackson's unconventional history course, which he started in the '70s with a handful of students, from Morningside Heights to the Brooklyn Heights promenade.
