Would You Pay $2M to Live Next Door to Alec Baldwin?

New, 20 comments

We wouldn't, since that $2 million only purchases a studio in the Emery Roth-designed Devonshire House. But what a studio it is! The main room is 11'7"x20'5" and it's got a wraparound terrace almost twice that size. Featuring swanky details like "original ebonized herringbone floors, re-plastered Venetian waxed walls, green glass mosaic tile backsplash, [and] doors and moldings that have been stripped down to the raw steel," unit #PHD is also located next to penthouse #12E, currently in contract and rumored to be Alec Baldwin's new downtown spread.

Update! A tipster writes in with some additional intel about that $2 million listing. Apparently the studio at #PHD was occupied by a rent-stabilized tenant who had been living in the unit before the Devonshire's big makeover. These tenants were given the first shot at purchasing these units, which the owner did: for $438,750. Now he's attempting a major flip (on an unrenovated unit, no less) at a 456% markup.
