Equity Residential head Sam Zell is no stranger to New York's landscape of stalled sites: now, in addition to 500 West 23rd Street and 133-135 Greenwich Street, the Chicago developer has snapped up 170 Amsterdam Avenue for $76.5 million. The 99-year lease for the 20,700-square-foot site will house a new, 230-unit apartment building with retail on the ground floor. [NYP]
