The team from Hotel Toshi put in an appearance at Community Board 1's public safety committee last night to argue for a proposed cafe at Williamsburg's 808 Driggs Avenue. The building's non-Toshi residents received only vague details in the form of a petition Toshi hoped they'd sign. Turns out Cafe Toshi hopes to serve "heat and eat" meals, but the CB 1 committee had a few concerns about compliance with DOB regulations, so they've turned down the Toshi application for now. In other news, Mr. Toshi himself became the first person ever to bring his dog to CB 1. [NYS; previously]
