Spiffed-Up Ham House Opens New Parkside Digs to the Public

Alexander Hamilton's 209-year-old home Hamilton Grange was gracefully relocated at a speed of 0.4 MPH to its third home back in 2008, a spacious and leafy perch at the northwest corner of St. Nicholas Park. After some detailed tweaking (new shutters, fresh paint, restored chimneys, plaster finish, and staircase), the Ham is all set to go for its grand opening on Saturday, September 17. Here, a look back at the journey of a historic house on wheels.
