The David Childs and SOM-designed tower at 1 World Trade Center may have lost its goofy title of 'Freedom Tower,' but its historically significant height of 1,776 feet has remained throughout eight years of design revisions. Until now? Maybe! A lightning rod added to the top of the spire in recently revealed plans could push the tower's measurement to 1,787 feet if taken from the north side of the building. History buffs, don't fret too much--the Observer points out that the date 1787 is significant as well: it just so happens to mark the creation of the U.S. Constitution. [NYO]
