A modestly sized new apartment building in historic Brooklyn Heights is designed not to stand out among its neighbors; it "melds with stately brick and brownstone houses dating back as early as the turn of the 19th century." That's a problem for some neighborhood residents, who want a more modern structure. The city's Landmarks Preservation Commission indicated early on that it approved of the plan for the building at 30 Henry Street (former of the The Brooklyn Eagle), but at least one commissioner said she'd prefer something less conformist; something that would stand out and announced one was in a different place.
