East Village superdive Mars Bar is dead and gone, but its innards will live on: lumber salvaged from the bar will be part of a furniture design exhibition. The event, 12 x 12, gives contemporary furniture designers wood salvaged from NYC sites with cultural importance, like the Coney Island boardwalk and a Grand Concourse apartment building. The furniture will be sold in an auction after the exhibition. [DNAinfo; previously]
