Pier 42 is Going to Get a Little Beachy

Just a few days ago we reported on the future transformation of the Lower East Side's Pier 42 to parkland, and the Post has a little rendering. And it looks like we're getting a beach! Er, sort of. The Post reports "The new park between the Manhattan and Williamsburg bridges will include green space and river access, a source familiar with the project said. Visitors to the fenced-off beach would not be permitted to swim in the river but would be allowed to dip their feet into it." The price of the total project is $40 million, and expect for work to start around June.
