Last year was a strong year for the issuing of new building and demolition permits, with the number of demolition permits in Manhattan almost double what they were in 2010. The folks at PropertyShark have plotted all of the permits issued in 2011 on a handy map, with mini reports on the ownership and most recent sale of each property where a permit was issued. To go along with the visual, some stats! There were only 4,092 new building permits issued across the five boroughs in 2011, compared to 4,810 in 2010. But the number of demolition permits?an indication of new construction to come?increased from year to year, with 1,117 permits in 2011 and 1,036 in 2010.
