Where is a former One Percenter supposed to go after he has been fleeced by a Madoff, got popped by the housing mortgage bubble, or simply bet on the wrong horse too many times? In the mid-20th century, one could head to Grand Concourse in the Bronx, where The Andrew Freedman Home was founded in 1924 for formerly wealthy men and women who had fallen on hard times. As Nick Carr of ScountingNY now finds it, the Freedman Home is in varying degrees of preservation and disintegration.
