Fans of the one, the only Frank Gehry, today's your day: Hell's Kitchen's Gehry-designed Signature Theater is finally opening. The $66 million theater occupies 70,000 square feet and takes up a full block, making it the largest non-profit performing arts center built in the city since Lincoln Center. Something to be proud of, to be sure, but how does it look? The Times has a slideshow of the space, which includes three theaters and a cafe and bookstore. We never saw anything more than a tiny model, so it's all a pleasant surprise. And there's a whole 'nother Gehry-designed theater to come!
