A study released yesterday reveals two possible EPA plans for the cleanup of the Gowanus Canal, both costing a whopping $351 to $456 million. Each plan involves dredging the contaminated canal and putting protective layers between the water and the sediment. The whole thing will take 10 years, at least, with the cost paid by the canal's polluters. [NYDN]
