Park for Javits, Say Locals

New, 4 comments

Queens may be getting a huge new convention center and a casino, but Hell's Kitchen residents are ready to give up the Javits Center for some park space. Shortly after Gov. Cuomo floated his plan to close the Javits Convention Center, the Hell's Kitchen Neighborhood Association dug up a modified version of a plan drafted in 2007. The plan calls for replacing the footprint of the Javits Center with park-filled, mixed-use residential housing, and opening half of Pier 76 on the Hudson as a community park. [DNAinfo]
