Sprawling Riverside Drive Pad Keeps Old-School Layout, Wants to See Big Profits

New, 10 comments

There's not a lot to hate about 190 Riverside Drive's 5 bedroom/4 bathroom unit 11C. It's got 3,660 square feet of space in one of Manhattan's most idyllic stretches on the westernmost part of the Upper West Side, facing the Hudson River. The apartment has got oodles of gorgeous details, and a killer floorplan to boot. In fact, the only flaw we're really finding is the less than spacious kitchen, which might leave some buyers a little disappointed.

The building was constructed in 1908 by Ralph Townsend (who built beauties like 640 West End Avenue and the more ornate Kenilworth at 151 Central Park West), who wanted to only build 10-room homes to rival the generous floorplans of townhouses in the area. This unit maintains that layout, but it won't come cheap. The unit is asking $7,850,000. That's quite a jump from its 2003 sales price of $1,900,000. Bullish!
