"In my humble opinion SoHo truly is best suited for classic buildings. The SoHo Mews and 40 Mercer were decent attempts, but compared to say The Crosby St Hotel, they're more distracting then anything and don't really offer any kind of "wow" factor that you hope for in the high end of new construction. My pick - bring in Roman & Williams have them do a grander version of something in the vain of 211 Elizabeth. I imagine a building like that, in a quiet, desirable part of SoHo would command a major, major premium. Much more (or at least enough to make it worth the developers while) then a dull glass tower."?anon [Selldorf Designs New Building for 42 Crosby Parking Lot]
