BLDG 92 Design Discussion; New Office for Service Workers

FORT GREENE?The Brooklyn Navy Yard is about to celebrate the one-year anniversary of BLDG 92, and to commemorate the event, they are hosting a talk with the building's design and build team. To create the center, architecture firm Beyer Blinder Belle transformed a 1857 Marine Commandant's residence into a museum and employment center. The panel will be hosted at 6 p.m. on November 8 at the Center for Architecture. [CurbedWire Inbox; official]

FLATIRON?Gerner Kronick + Valcarcel Architects designed new offices for the 32BJ SEIU, the largest property service workers union in the nation. Located at 620 Sixth Avenue, the new offices occupy two and a half floors in a Beaux Arts building that used to house a department store. GKV divided the office space into "neighborhoods" that offer different services like training rooms, a dental clinic, and classrooms, and the interior design incorporates tools of the trade, like window washer harnesses and grappling hooks, as decorations.
