A former parking lot at 84 White Street is home to an under-construction 13-story apartment building. Blogging broker Andrew Fine has a few construction shots of the structure, which is located between Lafayette Street and Cortlandt Alley, one of the blocks that made it through the contentious Chinatown rezoning back in 2008. Permits for the project were approved in 2010, and they were renewed this summer.
Manuel Glas, the man behind Gramercy 145, is the architect for the development, and there will be around 30 apartments, with eight duplexes. According to plans filed with the DOB, the finished rooftop terrace will have a lap pool, the ground floor will have seven parking spaces, there will be storage in the basement, and a residents fitness room on the third floor. Fine speculates that because of the location, the building will be condos, and given the number of duplexes and the amenities, we are inclined to agree.
