Either yesterday's Cornerspotter was too easy or people just really know their Brooklyn Heights history. Just minutes after the post went up, two anonymous guessers correctly identified the townhouses as being 131-137 Willow Street. The photo was taken in May 1936 by Berenice Abbott, which may have been the biggest clue, since the photo was part of Abbott's well-known "Changing New York" exhibit for the Federal Art Project. Twenty years after this photo was taken, these clapboard homes were replaced by 135 Willow Street, a 10-story, 112-unit co-op building seen in the above photo. Thanks for playing!
