Navy Yard Watch

Congratulations, transformer area of the Brooklyn Navy Yard: you are no longer a Superfund site. (The public comment period on the issue goes until October 28.) There were no traces of PCBs found when groundwater samples were taken in fall 1996 and spring 1997, leading the powers that be to conclude the site no longer needs public monitoring. That said, it's not headed for redevelopment into condos in the near future, either. ['Stoner]
