"Boy, the city fathers were merciless when they implemented the street grid after 1810. As convenient as the grid is, it all but obliterated a huge chunk of the city that existed in the latter part of the 1700s. Whenever i go to Philly or Boston, i'm reminded that there's almost nothing left (outside of St Paul's Chapel) of NYC's Revolutionary War heritage. It's like Manhattan was founded in the 1820s, and there's even prescious few buildings around from that era."?anon [Manhattan's Smallest Graveyard, Sliced in Two By West 11th]
